£2,000 for Child Pedestrian Injury after being Hit by a Car in Rhyl

Following a successful pedestrian accident claim, PSR Rhyl secured a £2,000 compensation settlement for a client injured after being hit by a car crossing the road.

Whilst walking back from school with her mother and brother, our client was looking to cross Strand Road in Holywell on her way home. The three of them had stopped on the pavement and were looking for an opportunity to cross when a bus driver approaching from their right kindly stopped in order to allow them to cross. As our client continued across the road a third-party vehicle turned on to Strand walk from the main road and collided with our client, knocking her over.

Initially, it seemed as if our client’s injuries were fairly minor so no details were obtained from the driver. However, by the time our client had made her way back home, her leg had swollen significantly and so she was taken to Holywell Hospital for assessment. Thereafter, she was transferred to Glan Clwyd Hospital via ambulance for further assessment.

As the claimant did not obtain details of the third party vehicle this required a Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) untraced driver claim.

We received instructions in relation to this matter in June 2017 and submitted the claim to the MIB.  The claim was acknowledged by the MIB and they subsequently instructed a firm to take a statement from the client.  Upon receipt of the statement, the MIB thereafter instructed a medical expert to prepare a report on this matter which was duly done.  Upon receipt of the medical evidence, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau made an offer of £2,000 and the matter was concluded.

Despite being hit by an untraced vehicle we successfully obtained a reasonable sum for our client.
